Doah! Tiger said too much. Like learned counsel opined, sometimes it’s best not to volunteer an explanation to the arresting officers, especially when the burden of proof is on the state to demonstrate that you even broke a law. Now Tiger will have trouble changing his story if he so desires. As an example he will not be able to plead in court with any plausibility that he was exhausted and fell asleep at the wheel, which would typically incur a charge of distracted driving, given that he has already admitted that he was on dope. Distracted driving is much less of an offense than impaired driving/ DUI. For instance, you don’t automatically lose your driver’s license if you are ticketed for distracted driving. Also with a DUI on your record you are currently barred from entering Canada (it is considered a crime there rather than a traffic violation as the first couple of DUI offenses are in most US states). I suspect though that that won’t really be a problem for Tiger, should he choose to visit Canada in the near future. The USA can always make a deal with Canada that if we have to take in its obnoxious celebrities, like Justin Bieber, they have to let Tiger Woods in. Putting America first!
