“You can get more with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.”
- Al Capone
Dana Loesch and Stuart Varney discuss the issue.
Like the man said, the police in America don’t carry guns so much to protect the community as to protect themselves from lawbreakers who might resist arrest. Most Americans understand it intuitively that the criminal element in their own country is unlikely to submit meekly to authority when called upon to cease and desist in their unlawful depredations. Therefore they believe their police must posses the capacity to arrest violators by force. That is why carrying guns is a condition of employment for all the police patrols throughout the USA. The authorities in Great Britain are slow to come to the realization that their society has changed and as such the morale authority alone of the police officer on the street is insufficient to restrain lawbreakers.
It follows then that if the police need weapons to protect themselves from violent criminals in the community, so do YOU!
