I grew up reading the Jewish comic legends Stan Lee (Stanley Lieber) and Jack Kirby (Jacob Kutzberg)’s version of the Silver Age Thor, from 1962 to when I gave up comics and graduated to porn in 1970. I stopped reading comics because even then I could feel the toxicity of political correctness slowly seeping through once-cherished heroes.
I only returned to think about Marvel’s Thor when I saw that Marvel had made him into a woman. I expected that this would go down the transgender way, but they were more conventional, merely having Thor lose control of his hammer Mjolnir, only for it be gained by a woman, who was a Nordic, and at least not a person of color. Nick Fury whispered something in Thor’s ear while they were on the moon, and Odin’s spell, that only the worthy could wield Mjolnir, led to him not being able to lift the hammer any more. How the fuck a whisper could do that is anyone’s guess. And, even Odin himself, who had the dwarfs make the hammer originally, could not lift the hammer, the hammer going the full feminist.
This trivial bullshit is only in my mind as I came across a Quora email which said that what Fury said was “Gorr was right”:
.
Gorr was a killer of gods because his daughter had been sacrificed to one, he got some gem that made him super-powered and began killing them all, with a god-killing sword. He felt that the world would be a better place without gods, even though he was essentially one.
Well, maybe Gorr is right, that the gods will ultimately lead to our destruction. If they don’t we will do it ourselves, because the human race is far more unworthy, being essentially little more than conscious dung.
But, Marvel seems not to care much for the obvious contradiction that the same unworthiness which led to male Thor losing the power of Mjolnir, would also strike down their new feminist hero, who becoming a god, would also be unworthy and therefore powerless to wield the hammer. Marvel at the contradiction, Marvel, while losing your marbles.
Fortunately, someone is doing a bad ass graphic novel version of Thor:
Just a light break from all the heavy race suicide and day-to-day civilizational death. Ok, back to our day job.

Hey, RiflemanMy personal Marvel Age was from 1964-1968, and I remember the Marvel heroes as being solid Cold Warriors. Thor fought the Viet Cong in one issue, and I believe he decimated a ChiCom armored column invading Tibet in another. Bruce Banner and Tony Stark were in and around the military-industrial complex in a Kennedyesque sort of way...and the original Nick Fury? Fuggedaboutit!
I'm glad I moved on before Marvel transitioned to PC.
Love the new movies, though. It's like seeing my old pals come back to life. (It's never too late to have a happy childhood.)
