This morning, on the bus, a young man next to me saw that I was squinting and jotting down the Baltimore County Health Department poster across from his seat and read it for me. He then asked me how come Baby Boomers were so afflicted by the scourge referenced in the following notice depicting a stupid, white man, with a female nurse and female doctor:

I told him, “Most people my age and a decade or so older were dope fiends right out of middle school. Everybody got high except for me and a few odd balls. In the 70s and early 80s everyone wanted to snort coke, the status drug, the rich man’s power trip, only the assholes did it with dirty dollar bills, caused their nose to bleed and got infected with the fecal matter imbedded in the unwashed money of this sick nation. On top of that, Baby Boomers pioneered firing heroin and gay orgies, giving us AIDS!”

What are you going to write about when another baby boomer puts an ass whooping on your old tired wore out baby BOOMer ass ?
Of course, I will wax poetic about the improbable heroics of two Baby Boomers, striving mightily, in stark contrast to the rife degeneracy of their chronological peers, who cringed in fear as the titans trampled their genetically engineered flowers and shook the firmament with such fury that bowls of antidepressants on kitchen counters and night stands rattled to the floor, sending their owners crawling about on hands and knees in worship to their chemical God!
I'd be proud to lose that one.

Not "most people" really. A bit of hyperbole can help make a point, but you know it's not real ..... Very few of my own spatial and temporal compatriots were as you describe.
Actually, every coworker of over a hundred was a stoner at my first job, and of over 200 students at Trinity High School in my grade only 4 of us males did not get high. All of my older cousins except for Kathy got high, that is like 10-1.
As for the girls, I never dated for the simple reason that I did not get high or buy drugs for women. of course, I am certain that great swaths of someone else's America was straight. My friends who were Pentecostal Christians did not get high. But that was it. Everyone else I knew in my age bracket for my first 30 years, in Baltimore and Washington, PA, was a stoner.
That's a first for me, seeing the closest comment yet to a threat, written by a sensitive boomer who has surprisingly read enough of you that he has a small sense of, but still has erroneously underestimated the threat you present to anyone foolish enough to consider taking you on, especially to the dindus his generation has elevated into a morality-starved, though government overfed pack of unethical animals who are above reproach, just because you're aging...
Like my memory relative to language-related subjects or your daily lifetime survival experience, whatever we may be losing in our expertise is more than he's ever known, and way more is being retained than he could ever imagine.

That comment about puttin' a ass-whoopin' on JL wasn't anything like a threat actually, just a sort of "guy-thing" which (like "You old son of a bitch") if you say it with a smile on your face is just a comradely question.
Now if it's said ANOTHER way it's a challenge and a threat, but I didn't get that impression at all.
I've got probably 125,000 posts on sites all over the Internet, and on most of them (unlike Sauron) I use my real name, and permit it to be spelt or spoken. I've had a LOT of threats in 20 years ... but I've found that the ones that spout off have already done everything they're going to do. It's the quiet one that don't say nothin' that you have to be ready for. Note that I said "be ready for" and not "worry about". I've learned THAT from JL if nothing else .... !
