Bringing the Kid Along
Adapting to the Pro Game in Boxing

JUL/15/17
I like this kid, James.
How would you recommend bringing him along in the pros?
-Big Ron
Ron, I'm unqualified to comment on this subject, as I have never coached at that level.
I would work on him shifting leads more, so that when he faces a hooker at high level he can peel off to the left, and against a good right hand man, going southpaw and peeling off to the right.
The thing I am most afraid of is him getting caught with a right hand.
His best quality is not clinching much.
Most importantly, he should be coached to go to a high extended guard when hurt. Somebody will rock him some day.
His best match down the road should be Lomachenko
