Okay, Tony, off the top of my head, in one shot, according to the logic that those movies that come first to mind left the greatest impression:
In cases of a series, I have named the single movie I thought the best.
1. Forbidden Planet
2. Planet of the Apes
3. 12 Monkeys
4. Blade Runner
5. Terminator
6. Aliens
7. Predator
8. Pitch Black
9. Soylent Green
10. Omega Man
11. Road Warrior
Please, feel free to add your own favorite in the comments and make sure to castigate me foe not listing Dune.
Taboo You: Deluxe Man Cave Edition
Using the same criteria (what came to mind first as the most enjoyable)
1. Road Warrior/Thunderdome
2. The Matrix I, II, III
3. Terminator II
4. Dark Star
5. Pitch Black
6. Wrath of Khan
7. Outland
8. Chronicles of Riddick
9. Men in Black
10. Fury Road
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
I am embarrassed that I forgot Outland, and I am a Connery fan! Outland might be the most intelligent pick of them all and belongs in the same subgenre as Blade Runner.
2001:Space Odyssey (1968)
They Live (1988).
That's a good list and I would agree. I think you left out the Exorcist which scared the daylights out of me. Maybe Halloween. and Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
12 Monkeys an especial favorite which it could be very likely we will see some day in the near future if the AI's don't wipe us out first.
1) 2001
2) Star Wars (original)
3) Blade Runner
4) Forbidden Planet
5) Alien
6) The Andromeda Strain
7) The Wrath of Khan
8) The Terminator
9) War of the Worlds (1954)
10) The Thing from Another World
These are good lists, but ....
Obviously (since I included "Dark Star" on my list) I understand parody ... but what is "Forbidden Planet" doing on the various lists? Sort of like including "Mothra vs Godzilla" ... ?
