I Am On A Jury for a Murder Trial
I Can't Discuss the Case

Unfortunately this one might take a while, so posting will be uneven.
I actually told the judge and attorneys about hacking a dude up with a sword and getting off and they selected me as the seventh pick.
So far the conduct of the jurors, staff and witnesses has been cringe worthy.
I will probably attach a write-up of the trial to the second edition of The Logic of Steel, but won't post anything here other than general impressions of the system.

Cool! James, one of the things I think you'll find out about our court system is that real lawyers generally aren't as good at acting and public speaking as the ones we see on TV. Not as good looking or well dressed either. Plus in the real world most of the defendants are guilty. Prosecutors generally won't even take a case to trial unless they have overwhelming evidence supporting a conviction. That's why the U.S. Federal District Court of NY has a higher conviction rate than even the Nuremburg War Crimes trials did. DA's whether elected or appointed don't want to endure being embarrassed by a 'Perry Mason' style loss, that's for sure. The case of Florida vs. George Zimmerman was a textbook example in which a prosecutor took a case to trial without sufficient evidence to support a conviction. The trial of the Baltimore cops in the Freddie Gray incident is another notable example. Only Leftist persecutors would be allowed to survive such blunders without it destroying their careers.

This would be sitcom-worthy in another universe, but in this one please send us some dispatches from the perverse realm of modern 'justice.'
