Fighting for control of the Windy City block by block.
“On Monday, the FBI released its annual uniform crime report showing that Chicago’s 60 percent jump in slayings last year played a major factor in violent crime rising for a second straight year in the U.S. Experts say a complex mix of factors drives the violence. Much of the bloodshed can be linked to gang conflicts over everything from petty disputes to control of drug dealing, as well as the splintering of gangs into smaller cliques fighting over a few blocks at a time. Police cite the flow of illegal firearms into the streets and gang disputes that erupt over social media platforms.”

After reaching a peak in the 1970’s violent crime had been decreasing in the USA. Now it is back on the upswing, although it is very localized to the country’s major cities: 2% of the counties in the country experience 51% of all the murders. As many as 54% of all the counties in America have no murders at all in the course of a year’s time. So America can be a very safe or a very dangerous place depending on where you live. The laws concerning gun ownership and carry by average citizens tend to be much more permissive in the safe jurisdictions than in the dangerous areas.
In some 60% of the murders in America both the victim and the perpetrator have a criminal record. This has held true for at least the past half century according to the F.B.I.’s annual Uniform Crime Report (UCR). So murder in America consists mainly of criminals killing other criminals, and minority criminals at that. 52% of murders in the country are committed by 4% of the population: black males from 17 to 49 years of age. More than 80% of their victims are black males as well. Most victims of interracial murder are white. Contrary to the Leftist narrative America does not have a ‘gun’ problem so much as it has a violent minority criminal problem.
The current upward trend in violent crime is partially attributed to the “Ferguson Effect”, meaning that police forces are being discouraged from confronting minority criminals due to Leftist political pressure.
Also many major American cities have had to reduce the size of their police forces precipitously due to reckless over-spending and borrowing by their Leftist ruling cliques on social engineering projects at the expense of public safety. Many of these urban city and county police forces are fully half the size they were 15 years ago. For example, Milwaukee appears set to further reduce its police force by some 84 officers on account of such a severe budget shortfall. The majority of the city’s budget goes to its debt service and paying pensions for former city employees. Excessive use of TIF Districting (Tax increment Financing) to raise money for numerous social engineering projects has also diverted property taxes from being used to pay for public safety (police and fire) and other mundane services that make a big city livable.
Additionally, the criminal justice system, being run by ideological Leftists, is typically very lenient in its handling of minority offenders. This revolving door justice ensures a constant supply of violent criminals on the streets.
The excessive forbearance by the authorities, as well as the reduction of overall police presence and response due to shrinking numbers, quite naturally emboldens the criminal element. Not only do murder rates increase as gang bangers settle scores with rival gangs, but all manner of assaults and property crimes against law-abiding citizens also increase. Milwaukee is already ‘carjack city’. Imagine what it will be like in the coming years with 84 fewer police patrolman and detectives to respond to reports of crime?
You’re on your own.

“I’m Sheriff David Clarke, and I want to talk to you about something personal…your safety. It’s no longer a spectator sport; I need you in the game, but are you ready? With officers laid-off and furloughed, simply calling 9-1-1 and waiting is no longer your best option. You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back; but are you prepared? Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?”
-Sheriff David Clarke, Milwaukee County, Radio PSA March 2013
“This is Sheriff David Clarke. Violent crime went up nearly 10% in Milwaukee. Are you the next victim? You don’t have to be! But that’s your call. Armed criminals are being put back on the street by a soft-on-crime court system even before the ink dries on police reports. Are you prepared to handle a life or death threat? Wisconsin’s Personal Protection Act now gives you the same advantage that I have. Now it’s the crook who has to wonder what you might do. It can be a great equalizer… but you always have to think survival… Remember, it’s you and me now.”
-Sheriff David Clarke, Milwaukee County, Radio PSA March 2013
“I’m Sheriff Clarke. To avoid being a victim of crime you don’t have to be the toughest or fastest person on the block. Your age and gender don’t matter either. Here’s what’s important…attention to your surroundings is critical…recognize the threat… know who’s around you when walking down the street, getting into your car or going into your home. And if you smell trouble??? Trust your instincts…be decisive…use the element of surprise against your attacker, and most importantly, be ruthless in your response. Are you ready?”
