A Cornered Man
A Case Study in Letting Down Your Guard

James, this reminds me of growing up in Baltimore.
Seriously though, this is why you never turn your back on somebody you fuck up.
A cornered, hurt or crying man can be very dangerous.
-Big Ron
This is why your Uncle Rick was so big on "finishing" strong. When a man takes down a big foe, something should be broken, an elbow, a hand, preferably an ankle. It is easy to rip off a shoe while twisting the ankle and then toss the shoe away, so the risen man—if still in range—is hobbled. Just snapping the right thumb between your hands is a good post-finishing tactic.

One wonders whether jurors, in the cold light of CCTV, might view "finishing strong" as punitive rather than merely defensive. Scylla and Charybdis, especially for the white man.
