FYI: the NYPD in particular has been oppressive in its enforcement of New York State’s restrictive laws on knife possession and carry:

“WARNING: Note that New York City administrative code has an under-4-inch length limit and requires knives be carried concealed. Knife Rights recommends that you never carry your knife clipped to your pocket in New York City. Even when covered by a jacket, simply moving the jacket aside to get to a wallet has been enough to get folks arrested. Always ensure your knife is completely concealed at all times, including not “printing” on the outside of your clothing. In addition, be extremely circumspect about using a knife for any purpose in a public setting.”

“Note also that NYC has interpreted the state law against gravity knives such that if an officer can “wrist flick” the knife blade open and the knife blade locks open, that knife is an illegal gravity knife. NYC takes this position even if it requires multiple tries and use of exaggerated arm thrust or motion. Using this interpretation, most any lockblade knife might be deemed an illegal gravity knife.”

That is how you have to read his opposition to Trump’s latest effort to keep us safe and reform how refugees (coming from terrorist hotbeds) enter the US.

This is rich! In March Senators Cardin and Klobuchar (D-MN) called for more government transparency and emphasized the importance of OPEN government! Gee sounds exactly like what we want and what those Minnesota citizens were asking for in St. Cloud.

Police seek suspect in CVS stabbing and robbery

BALTIMORE —

An attempted robbery ended in a violent assault on a CVS employee Tuesday night, Baltimore police said.

Baltimore police said the suspect entered the CVS store in the 100 block of North Wolfe Street around 6 p.m. Tuesday. They said the suspect attempted to steal an electric razor and two knee braces. Police said that when the suspect was confronted by store security, he pulled out a knife and stabbed the security guard in the chest.

"They tried to detain him, they tried to subdue him, and again he dropped the property and that's when he pulled the knife out," said Detective Donny Moses, of the Baltimore Police Department.

Police said the suspect dropped the items and ran out of the store.

The victim is recovering at a hospital, officials said, and is expected to be OK.

"He's expected to survive. Obviously, the hospital is not far. He was transported there, where he's still recovering," Moses said.

Police said the suspect is a black man who appears to be in his mid to late 40s and was wearing a tan ball cap, a light blue jacket, and tan cargo pants.

Residents of the mixed residential and commercial building where the robbery took place have mixed feelings.

"It's definitely a little scary. I mean, we hear about crimes happening all the time in the area, but this is so close to home. It's definitely terrifying," said Kathleen Robinson, who lives in the building.

Some residents who live and work in the Johns Hopkins Hospital area community are in shock. For Myrtle Williams and her granddaughter, Shalay, who visit the area, it was a dose of reality.

"I told (Shalay that) crime is everywhere. It's just being at the wrong place, at the wrong time," Myrtle Williams said.

Police believe the suspect lives in the area because he fled east up Fayette Street on foot. Police hope someone will come forward soon with information on who the suspect is.

There is plenty of surveillance in the area with the hospital nearby, but residents say they aren't short on taking precautions.

"I usually only walk on the streets that have the security cameras, and if I go anywhere else, we go in groups, or in Uber, or whatever,'' Robinson said.

WBAL-TV 11 News reached out to CVS for comment, but has not received a response.
