Vikings 1; Christians, 0
“The English calamities arose out of Danish reaction to Frankish imperialism. Charlemagne completed the conquest of Frisia and campaigned against the Saxons, the two buffer states, in the last quarter of the 8th century, and the Danes retaliated by attacking the Frankish empire by land and sea.”
F. Barlow, “Who are the English? Migration, Conquest and the Mingling of Races,” in R. Blake (ed.), “The English World: History, Character and People,” (Thames and Hudson, London, 1982), pp. 49-57, at pp. 52-53.
When there is another Viking revival, we will put that one on the list of revenge topics.
From Swords to Axes
These articles at the well-respected Arma.org site, seems to be making a physicist’s case of the sub-optimal performance of contemporary swords because of intrinsic design flaws:
Even if this is correct, sub-optimal performance is better than hitting someone with your fist, or head-butting them, and modern swords appear to still cut “good enough.” I am still impressed by the Cold Steel meat cutting videos, and would dearly like their Viking sword, even though historicists have some criticism of the size of the handle:
Also good:
Anyway, considering cost, my preferred melee weapon is the axe; here is a good article on two-handed Petersen type M axes, which have a top cusp/horn for thrusting, and a bottom one for hooking/trapping/down blows:
Here is a nice little one on sale right now on EBay from Oz:
And, here are the noble Nordics Thrand and Eldgrim showing that this little hand axe can easily decapitate and slice open heads:

I'm curious what form Neo-Odinism will take. What will substitute for the various animal and human sacrifices which were such a financial burden then and almost impossible now that most of society except Islam has abandoned such things? The nice thing about the Christ-God is that He is the final sacrifice for sins.

Inventing a new religion or reviving a dead one is a fool's errand. Whatever form Christianity takes when it purges itself of the progressives, globalists and radical ecumenists that have co-opted it, it will still be the dominant religion of the West. Jews and Muslims will see to it that polarization occurs among the citizenry.

Agreed, Bob. If Christianity dies off in the West, there will be no West.

What is meant is that Christians' turn-the-other-cheek ethos is necessarily challenged by the Old Testament or Islamic eye-for-eye.

There's another reason why reverting to some pre-Christian code will be difficult, and that is that the Church, over the course of some 1,500 years, altered the very biological character of Western man. Endogamy was seen as deleterious to the civil society desired (cynically or otherwise) by the Church. Hello exogamy!

Christianity's universal, rather than particular, ethics proved to be commercially useful, too. Fair players make attractive trading partners. Christian charity, helped avoid endless retributive feuds. (In contrast, "Never forget Amalek!" etc.. )
